Center for Academic and Faculty Excellence, Resource Guide: Home

About the Center for Academic and Faculty Excellence

The Center for Academic and Faculty Excellence (CAFE) opened in the Fall of 2014 at Schoolcraft College. The Center is located in room G100 in the Grote building. The Center is run by faculty for faculty. The mission of the CAFE is to encourage the exploration of new approaches to teaching and learning, and to cultivate professional dialogue through faculty led orientations, workshops, research, and one-on-one consultations.

The CAFE houses a selection of books, articles, and other resources which can be used in the CAFE or checked out by faculty. The Center for Academic and Faculty Excellence is staffed by volunteer faculty members. The hours which the CAFE is open may vary based on the availability of faculty to support this effort, or use of the facility for professional development activities. The facility hosts a variety of professional development activities, including Brown Bag lunches, departmental meetings, webinars, seminars, and more. Check the public CAFE Calendar for a complete listing. Directions for accessing this calendar can be found here.

As a cooperative and open resource, the Center aims to foster a supportive and collaborative environment in which to explore an assortment of approaches to teaching and learning supported by excellent curriculum. Your involvement is welcome and encouraged as we grow this resource to fit the needs of Schoolcraft College faculty.
