At Schoolcraft College, we emphasize eight core abilities that are essential for success in academics, careers, and daily life. These key skills are highly valued by employers and form the foundation of every student's education:

1. What are the Core Abilities for my course listed on the Common Syllabus?
2. Evaluate the Core Ability rubrics for the abilities listed. Do my assignments align to the rubric?
3. Evaluate the Core Ability rubric for the Core Abilities listed on the common syllabus. This will be helpful as faculty identify assignments and support their students in developing these skills.
4. Build or shift your assignment to meet the Core Ability indicators on the rubric. If there’s a departmentally developed Core Ability assignment, be sure to stay in alignment with their requirements.
5. Explore example assignments that address Core Ability outcomes on the SC Assignment Central organization site in Blackboard. [Login to Blackboard using your Schoolcraft credentials. Then select the Organizations tab in the navigation menu on the left.]
