Students demonstrate the Social and Cultural Awareness Core Ability by:

  • Articulating insight into one's own social or cultural biases and rules.
  • Analyzing the similarities and/or differences of other social or cultural groups. 
  • Demonstrating how a world event impacts a social or cultural group. 
  • Analyzing the impact of globalization on cultures.

As a community college, we often prepare students to enter the workforce. This study explores healthcare professionals’ views on cultural competence, focusing on their experience and preparedness with multicultural patients. While most felt confident in delivering culturally competent care, nearly half reported lacking formal cross-cultural training, highlighting a critical gap in professional development.
